AC/DC have quashed rumours that they are due to play a gig in Switzerland later this month and have a title for their new album.

Online reports have suggested the band were going to play a special Swiss club show in January and are working on an album called Strap It On.

However, the band's record label Albert Music has denied the reports, revealing that they haven't been in the studio and have no current plans to start work on a new LP.

Albert Music's Danny Keenan told Undercover News: "Contrary to rumours floating around the internet, AC/DC will not be playing at a special club performance in Switzerland in late January.

"If you ask me if they're in the studio today, I can tell you they're not. If you ask me if they were in the studio last week, I can tell you they're not. If you ask me if they're in the studio next week, I can tell you they're not.

"We're pretty hopeful, but unfortunately there is no word of an album at this stage."

AC/DC's last album Stiff Upper Lip was released in 2000.
