Richard Fleeshman: 'Hold Me Close'

Richard Fleeshman's failure to find an audience was one of the pop shocks of last year. After wooing the tween contingent as Corrie's first ever goth sex-pot – and impressing their mothers on Soapstar Superstar - he seemed like a shoo-in for chart success. However, after his debut single generated all the buzz of a paralysed hornet, his Neon album stalled at a disastrous number 71.

Second single 'Hold Me Close' might just have enough to spare his blushes. A briskly-strummed, semi-acoustic toe-tapper, it's the perfect showcase for Fleeshman's appealingly throaty vocals. Its boy-meets-girl lyrics are as groundbreaking as fresh-laid cement, but, for those who enjoy McFly at their most mellow, 'Hold Me Close' will be a rare treat.
