Back in 2006, Nathan was touted as UK R&B's "Next Big Thing". After a promising start – reaching the top 40 with 'Come Into My Room', nabbing a MOBO nomination – he soon joined Nate James, Terri Walker et al. in that crowded corner of pop's filing cabinet reserved for "British urban also-rans". Until now. Following an appearance on
Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack, he's attempting to jump-start his stalled career.
Sadly, 'Do Without My Love' is too dull and derivative for the job. Nathan coos and sighs like an old pro, but this languid, smoochy ballad just sounds like Ne-Yo's 'Sexy Love' on a (drastically) reduced budget. If Nathan
had to spearhead his comeback with this uneventful single, he really should have picked a more popular reality show.
