With its rinky-dink piano riff, jaunty brass parps and "la la la" chorus, not to mention Naim's Linguaphone-indebted pronunciation and simple, optimistic lyrics, 'New Soul' is a charmingly ingenuous pop song. In fact, so soothing are its gentle, folky tones, it could even make something state-of-the art and inherently commercial - the world's thinnest laptop, say - seem homely and unthreatening. Nice choice, Steve.
