The Bill Corgan-fronted group filed a breach of contract lawsuit yesterday which stated they had "worked hard for over two decades to accumulate a considerable amount of goodwill in the eyes of the public" and Virgin's use of the band for Amazon and Pepsi was harmful to their reputation.
The Smashing Pumpkins have been on the Virgin label for the past 17 years but said their agreement doesn't permit the company to use the band in promotional campaigns.
The lawsuit is demanding that Virgin pay the band profits earned from the deals and prevent the Pumpkins' name or music being used in future promotions.
