Eavis won't blame Jay-Z for low numbers

Emily Eavis has claimed that Jay-Z isn't to blame for the reduction in Glastonbury ticket registrations this year.

The festival received fewer ticket applications than last year, prompting speculation that the hip-hop headliner had turned off certain fans.

However, the event organiser insisted that it was the bad weather that has blighted the last two festivals that had caused the downturn in interest.

Speaking about the applications, Eavis told NME: "I'm sure it's because of the weather.

"People only remember the last festival, so if it was really muddy…I don't blame them, to be honest. Everybody needs a rest.

"As soon as Michael made that announcement [that registration numbers were down on last year] we had tens of thousands of people suddenly registering, because they thought they'd have more chance.

"It went really well - I always worry about registration, I worry about whether people are going to come at all!"

Glastonbury takes place on June 27-29 at Worthy Farm, Pilton. The Verve, Kings of Leon, Duffy, The Courteeners, Estelle, The Enemy and Pete Doherty are among the acts playing the event.
