Elliot Minor: 'Parallel Worlds'

Having penetrated the top 30 with their last three singles, 'Jessica', 'The White One Is Evil' and 'Still Figuring Out', it's about time that Elliot Minor made that big leap into the top ten. With a shiny pop-punk sound not a million miles away from McFly and Busted, and a list of tour dates longer than the Yellow Pages on their MySpace, the York five-piece seem well-prepped for chart success.

Unfortunately, new single 'Parallel Worlds' is probably their weakest effort to date. Featuring an odd mixture of sugary pop production, Darkness-style cod metal guitar solos and occasional bursts of surf guitar, it lacks cohesion, drifting along aimlessly without ever truly grabbing the listener by the scruff of the neck. While there's nothing overtly wrong with Minor's latest offering, no band should ever settle for sounding like a bunch of Sum 41 cast-offs.
