The Irish rock group took a break over Easter and have now returned to the recording studio with producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois.
A post on the group's official site read: "We hear that the recording sessions in Hanover Quay are going well - with everyone still hoping the new album will be out this year.
"No word on how the music is developing from last year's songwriting sessions in France and Morocco but the band are in good form and enjoying themselves."
The band's first three albums - Boy, October and War - have been remastered and will be released in July. Each album will be put out as a standard single disc, a deluxe double version that includes B-sides, live tracks and rarities, and a vinyl edition.
U2 recently signed a 12-year agreement with concert promoters Live Nation.
