One Night Only: 'It's About Time'

Young, pretty and bearing more than a passing resemblance to The Kooks, One Night Only are never going to be the coolest band in the world - but this doesn't mean they should be counted out entirely. Recent single 'Just For Tonight', the theme tune to flop E4 teen drama Nearly Famous, had a big, swelling, anthemic chorus that countless more experienced bands would sell their scruffed-up Converse for.

'It's About Time', the third release from their debut album Started A Fire, is a rather less striking effort. With its new wave keyboards, toe-tapping drum-beat and sing-song backing vocals, it's late-noughties indie-pop at its fluffiest, with frontman George Craig continuing to offer a passable, if slightly pointless, impression of Luke Pritchard. The result boasts as much depth as a petri dish, but it does at least sound good as it's playing.
