Tina Turner has revealed plans for her first live tour in eight years.

The veteran pop singer confirmed on The Oprah Winfrey Show that she would begin a US tour in Kansas City in October. Tickets for the shows go on sale on May 12.

Turner said during a 2000 concert in Zurich that she was retiring from performing live, saying that she wanted "to go out at the top".

However, earlier this year she sang a medley with Beyoncé Knowles at the Grammys.

Turner first found fame performing with her husband Ike before beginning a solo career in 1974. She scored hits in the UK and US with tracks including 'What's Love Got To Do With It?', 'Simply The Best', and 'Private Dancer'.
