Glastonbury chief Michael Eavis has hit back at Noel Gallagher's criticism of this year's line-up.

Oasis star Noel recently responded to the news that Jay-Z had been booked for the event by claiming that there is no place for hip-hop music at Glastonbury.

Eavis has now admitted that he does not understand the reasoning behind Gallagher's remarks, describing them as "weird" and "disappointing".

"Why did he need to get involved? It was a bit weird, to be honest," Eavis is quoted by The Sun as saying. "He should give someone else a chance. He needn't have said that and I was disappointed he did.

"He said it's a place for guitar bands - but there are loads of guitar bands playing."
