Coldplay 'steal' Oasis release plans

Oasis are reportedly angry with Coldplay over their decision to release their new album on a Thursday, The Sun reports.

Chris Martin's band will put out Viva La Vida on June 12 and are hoping to break the record for the fastest selling British album, currently held by Oasis's Be Here Now.

Traditionally new albums are released on Monday, but Oasis chose to put out Be Here Now on a Thursday and saw the album shift 700,000 copies over a three-day period in 1997.

"Some people reckon Coldplay have nicked their successful blueprint from Be Here Now to try to break the record," a source from the Oasis camp said.

A Coldplay insider denied that the group were influenced by Oasis, saying the Thursday release would "bring [the album] in line with the rest of Europe".
