Indie acts unite for 'Red Hot' compilation

Former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne, Feist and Sufjan Stevens are among the acts signed up for the latest Red Hot compilation album, reports Billboard.

The record, which sees Byrne backed by experimental group Dirty Projectors, will be produced by Aaron and Bryce Dessner from The National.

"I'd been told more than once that we should all work together, and it seems the suggestion was fated to be realised," Byrne wrote on his blog.

The Decemberists, Grizzly Bear and Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard will also feature on the album, which will contain between 24 and 30 songs, according to Aaron Dessner.

The Red Hot organisation has put out more than a dozen compilations since 1990 to raise money for AIDS research. The new untitled album is expected to be released in the autumn or in early 2009.
