Elliot Minor: 'Time After Time'

Any Elliot Minor fans who were panicking that 'Time After Time' might be a Cyndi Lauper cover needn't have worried. Of more concern is the fact that the latest release from their debut album is dull, plodding and lacking any kind of inspirational spark. Following the release of 'Parallel Worlds', their signature song, the group are in need of a strong track to solidify their position as a dependable singles band. 'Time After Time', sadly, isn't it.

Trapped in a void between emo ballad and up-tempo crowd-pleaser, 'Time After Time' meanders to nowhere, failing to engage or excite and lacking any kind of pop-punky uplift. "Time after time and nothing has changed. Time after time and we're still the same," sings Alex Davies on the chorus. This is a song about life being a drag that, appropriately enough, does an excellent job of making you feel bored and apathetic. Perhaps it's time to start thinking about that Cyndi Lauper cover, guys?
