The US rockers are currently recording the follow-up to 2007's Because Of The Times in Nashville.
Speaking about the recording sessions, singer Caleb Followill revealed two tracks, 'Cold Desert' and 'Crawl', would have a political message.
"Let’s just say that Sean Penn is gonna like us more," he told Rolling Stone.
Followill also said that painkillers he has been taking for an arm injury may have helped improve the band's melodies.
"I don’t know if it was the pills or what, but the melodies were so much stronger than anything I’ve ever done - it’s just really beautiful songs," he said.
"I know I sound like a f**king c**k right now, but this is the first time I’ve really been proud of myself, track for track."
Kings Of Leon headline Glastonbury Festival later this month.
