It's an appeal that is carried over on his third outing Right Place Right Time. Your Gran may not know who Flo Rida is, but we doubt that will stop her bopping along to lead single 'Troublemaker' while sipping her sherry come Christmas Day. Murs's ability to fuse catchy melodies and funky hooks - especially in a chart laden with raunchy euphemisms - remains his biggest charm.
"I love all of you, if you love me too," he croons on 'Army of Two'; a brass-pomping anthem waiting for a 20,000-strong crowd at The O2. Hints of progression can be heard on 'Dear Darlin'' and title track 'Right Place Right Time', both blending hummable piano riffs with spacious beats. It's a mix that has worked wonders for Emeli Sandé over the past 12 months and adds a youthful edge that doesn't alienate his more mature fans.
The soul-funk bassline on 'Hey You Beautiful' is sure to raise a brow from Maroon 5, while 'What a Buzz' centres around an addictive guitar line reminiscent of Cornershop's 'Brimful of Asha' - both of which play on Olly's carefree attitude that has gained him a loyal following. It may not be a big departure from his previous efforts, but when you're on to a good thing, why change the pace?
