Yeah, check out this great band! Or, go and look for all of the original artists and all of their songs, which are much better!
Scott the Dot - London on August 13th, 2009
Finally! You summed it up perfectly! It's funny how some people don't hear the original songs that they haven't even tried to disguise. Still, I can't believe the Dandy Warholes didn't get sued for just changing the words to the Rolling Stones' Brown Sugar and calling it their own, can you?
Charlotte Muffin, London on April 11th, 2009
Everyone is subject to their own opinion, but at least show 2 sides to each arguement, especially in a review! This is totally unfair, and untrue. Ignore this review and check they amazing band out for yourself.

This is not a review. This is an attack on the band. This band are absolute legends, and i can't see why anyone would want to hit them as hard as you have. Incredibly horrible things were said in that.
Francis, London on October 19th, 2008
I must say can agree with some of the things you said, but the fact that all you did was bash this absolutley WONDERFUL band was harsh. This shouldn't be called a review but more like a wannabe that has no talent so instead he bashes people who are better than him at something and calls it a review!!!

Time has moved on and so has music. Stop living in the 80s and embrace modern music. The Hoosiers' album wasn't no.1 for nothing. This is hardly a review but a complete bashing of three talented individuals who can actually sing and play. Terrible review.

I Personally enjoyed the album immensely and could listen to it hundreds of times over. Sure, your opinion is your own and if you don't like the music that's absolutely fine, but I really don't think anyone desrves to be slighted like that, especially such nice guys who have worked really hard just to get to where they are. Saying that they can't sing is definitely going way too far. 'Cause guys who can't sing always make albums that go to number 1, right? I'd like to see you get up there and do what they do.

I just got this CD. And wow, even Worst Case Scenario recalls Close To Me - Cure. And the rest of the comparisons were spot on, I still really like it

I'm not usually one for this type of music, more of a progressive metal kinda guy, but this review is ********, how can you say Sparkes' vocals are nasal? Have you ever even heard nasal vocals? Or music at all? Yes, at times Goodbye Mr A does sound a bit like Mr Blue Sky, but in the backing instrumental. Amy Winehouse destroyed The Zutons' hit but no one seemed to mind about that, she even used the same lyrics and melody throughout. Love Cats by The Cure is also a terrible song, sounding like it was recorded drunk with amateur instrumentals. The only negative thing you can say about The Hoosiers is they have borowed parts from other songs, not lyrics though, just the odd riff and such. Lucky you're not a hip-hop fan or you might top yourself. I'd sooner be listening to The Hoosiers than the dreary 'new indie' sounds of other artists. Guess when all you can get is an interview with Richard Fleeshman the credibility of the site really shines through.

I say it IS a little cheesy at first, but that's where the fun REALLY IS! Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it sure as hell saved me!
Chris, Manchester on May 23rd, 2008
I'm sorry but it absolute unadulterated garbage, its naff to the highest order and "Goodbye Mr A" and "Thinking about Ray" are interchangeble trash for singles. Its absolutely embarassing, I thought it was a joke at first but sadly I was wrong...

i think that this album is jst amazing i have it and im always playing it so its more than amazing or excellent

To the person who said, 'If you don't like it, don't listen to it'. Thats all well and good, but if that were true, there would be no bad reviews of records ever! It also doesn't matter whether the band are 'nice guys' or not either, we're talking about the music here. Yeah so the Hoosiers are incredibly catchy... and I've got to give them credit for making a solid pop rock album. Its fair enough also when bands sound similar, but some of the stuff on this album is just a bit to close for comfort... Cops and Robbers IS pretty much Love Cats (at least for the begginning) even down to the breathy shrieks over the introduction, and you can practically sing Mr Blue Sky over Goodbye Mr A. So as far as this review goes, i think its pretty on the button, The Hoosiers have pretty much just packaged the last 30 years of pop history into one album and are selling it to this generation, which is what makes the record good. But I'd much rather listen to the original artists rather than an immitation

will, bedfordshire on March 21st, 2008

Polishing your ego nicely are you? Putting down a wondering man makes you feel big, eh? Very clever. You are wrong in every aspect.
Duncan Harrison, Bristol on February 25th, 2008
The one thing this album can fully acheive is imagination and confidence and I think alot of the albums over the last six months have fallen into the trap of releasing one single and then letting all album tracks immitate it, this leaves no oppurtunity for further single success whereas 'goodbye mr.a' was just as succesful as 'worried about ray' also with subtle modest tracks like 'everything goes dark' and 'a sadness runs through him' this album may well be the only one we see from these indie pretty boys but I wouldnt say they have let there eccentric fans down.
Michael, Leigh-on-Sea on February 17th, 2008
It may not be revolutionary, but this album is true, unrelenting fun. It makes me sad to think that music that brings a quirky smile to your face can be criticised for doing just that. As if the world wasn't depressing enough already!
Olivia, Cornwall on January 29th, 2008
I think your review is total utter rubbish. Firsty I thought some of the cover versions from Radio 1's Live Lounge CD were amazing. Secondly, The Hoosiers were just a normal band playing in pubs and clubs but were picked for their talent and individuality. I think the band members are great singers and instrumentalists and are halarious and down to earth. Who ever wrote this review has no taste in music.
jelmer, The Netherlands on January 29th, 2008
Ah, come on! So you dislike Muse as well because they sound like Radiohead? Interpol like Joy Division? Just don't moan. It's a great album!
Tom London on January 12th, 2008
Absolute b******s. I would like to see a high rating review from you and have a listen to the band, what's the betting it's total unmelodical sound trash? I bought the album and thoroughly enjoyed it, and I can say I'm pretty certain I'm not alone, with it being number 1 for a while 'n' all...

Becky, Yorkshire on January 11th, 2008
If you don't like it, don't listen to it! I've met Irwin and he is a really lovely guy and I'd like to see the person who wrote this review, which is the worst I've ever read, sing like he can! And what if some of their songs are happy and upbeat? Whoever wrote this utter tosh obviously only listens to depressing suicidal music and can't take anything new on the music scene. This all sounds incredibly harsh but I can't beleive that someone had the nerve and arrogance to write this. All the band are talented and genuine people who HAVE worked for their fame. Anyway, their album went to number one so that shows how much this 'reporter' knows. Nuff said.

Caitrin, Newcastle on January 8th, 2008
this guy is a freak?! your just jealous. the hoosiers rock! irwin is such a nice person and they are all really funny and have lots of imagination. there are only so many chords and tunes, come on! its bound to sound similar to something. the album is a masterpiece and once again..you suck person who wrote this reveiw!
Emma London on December 13th, 2007
How do the songs sound alike? they sound COMPLETLEY DIFFERENT! Also the hoosiers rock! Their songs rock! AND they're really nice!
Jenny on October 31st, 2007
Someone bought this album for me, and it's one of the cheesiest things known to man. I intend to never listen to it again, every song is really annoying and I'm surprised the Cure aren't suing them for their rip off of the lovecats
Sian, Hastings on October 29th, 2007
All the reviews I have read have also slated the album, complaining about Irwin Sparkes vocals and how they have seemed to have copied other bands. Is this a problem when other bands sing the songs of others? No. People are just trashing this album because they like the same type of music, and are too afraid to actually like somthing else than the usual R&B rubbish. People like people who sound the same and act the same, and in most cases pretend to be somone they're not. The band doesn't deserve it at all.

ben, plymouth on October 25th, 2007
i've not listened to it all yet but it's not what i was expecting. to be honest it's good for what it is but i saw the hoosiers as being a band that would chance the way we think about rock music and this album hasn't acheived it for me yet! singles they've already released have been fairly fun and interesting but i'm finding it hard to beleive they have much depth in their songs. let's hope it's not all gonna be like the first half! ah!
Christian on October 24th, 2007
Whoever you are you're an idiot. hahaha this album is fantastic. There are so many bands now how is it possible NOT to sound like any of them??? Jeez. Everyone, don't listen to this rubbish review.
Sofia, Essex on October 24th, 2007
Are you actually serious about this? Have you actually listened to the same album as me? Well if you have you must have something wrong with your ears. I can honestly say that I love every track on this album, something I can't usually say about others. You obviously have no imagination whatsoever, and whats wrong with being happy? I would hardly call that a reason to slate the whole album. If you actually listened to it properly you would realise it's not all about that anyway. Fool.
