The singer, who scored a UK number one with 'Mysterious Girl', said he is taking his music career in a new direction.
The Press Association quotes him as saying: "I'm over that so much - you have no idea. It's time for my kids to do pop, not me!
"The stuff I actually really love doing is old soul, more than anything, but I have never had a chance to show it."
He added that he is keen to work with R&B and soul legend Peabo Bryson, saying: "[He] is someone we're talking with at the moment - but there's loads of people I'd love to collaborate with. We'll see what happens later this year."
Andre and Bryson will join acts including Coolio, Shalamar and The New Stylistics on David Gest's autobiographical musical tour in the autumn.
