In a statement, festival organisers said: "We've had the curse of Download. Kid Rock is not very well [and] we've had to rush him to hospital in Nottingham. He apologises to his fans."
Rock reportedly spent the previous night partying at the Whisky Mist bar in London.
Acts performing at Download this weekend include Judas Priest, Kiss, Lostprophets and The Offspring.
