The I'm A Celebrity... star met the band on a plane journey in the UK and agreed to work with them after they discovered they shared similar musical tastes.
He has provided guest vocals on the track 'Bring Me Down', which is released on July 21.
One line from the song is: "I never knew a woman could be so cold."
When asked who the lyrics are about, Gest told The Mirror: "It’s about a woman with a heart as cold as ice who only thinks of herself. Where could I have got that idea from?"
Attic Lights frontman Kevin Sherry said: "Half way through when we were recording it, David suddenly said 'This is about Liza! It's all coming out of me now!'"
Gest divorced Minnelli in 2003 after a year and a half of marriage.
