The Rolling Stones have quashed speculation that they are to leave their label EMI and sign with concert promoter Live Nation, says Reuters.
Reports emerged over the weekend claiming that the Stones, who have been with EMI for more than 30 years, are "close to clinching a deal with Live Nation".
The band's spokesman Bernard Doherty denied the rumours, saying: "We are not in talks with Live Nation in connection with any record deal."
One unnamed source claimed that the release of the Stones's Shine A Light documentary soundtrack through Universal was a sign that the group is likely to depart EMI.
The source added: "It is probably safe to assume that the band will be walking away."
Madonna, U2 and Jay-Z have all recently agreed expensive deals with Live Nation. Acquiring the Stones would further reinforce the company's policy of only signing established acts.
