The reformed boyband want to release a song called 'We Can't Stop Thinking About You', which they played on a recent reunion tour.
However, their label wants them to release a big ballad in the style of Take That's comeback single 'Patience', reports the Daily Star.
A source said: "Boyzone have been performing an upbeat track called 'We Can’t Stop Thinking About You' on their reunion tour, which is going down well with fans.
"They’ve also laid down the vocals to two slow numbers. After Take That did so impressively with 'Patience', the label believes it’s a no-brainer to go with a ballad for a guaranteed No 1."
Singer Ronan Keating recently expressed concerns about the group's new release.
"We know we will be compared with Take That, which is why releasing a ballad as the first single seems wrong," he said.
