Eavis: 'We'll do Glasto until 2015'

Michael Eavis has said he wants to do Glastonbury Festival for another seven years.

Eavis, 72, told the BBC that he would like to keep running the summer bash until he reaches 80.

"It's a schoolboy's dream come true, this is," he said. "When it works like this, we've got the best, fantastic show."

However, Eavis admitted that he almost gave up on the festival after last year's rain-affected event.

"Last year I thought I genuinely can't do this anymore," said the dairy farmer. "All the tents were left behind and the site was a mess."

Glastonbury 2008 is headlined by Kings of Leon, Jay-Z and The Verve. It is the first year since 1993 that it has not sold out, with around 800 tickets remaining.

Eavis confessed that there is a belief among some people that the event has become "too big for its boots". He also blamed poor weather at the last two festivals for the reduced ticket sales.
