Artists including Leona Lewis and the Sugababes helped to create a sense of community in the hospitality area before the concert kicked off yesterday evening.
"Normally at these things the artists keep themselves to themselves but they'd all left the attitude at the door," an insider told the Daily Star.
"Razorlight, Leona, Will Smith and the Sugababes were having a giggle together, singing with the Agape Choir as they rehearsed. There's something about Mandela that brings out the kid in people."
Simple Minds star Jim Kerr confirmed: "It was like a school trip. There was a real joy spreading through the artists."
