The veteran Manchester indie band claimed they encountered Madonna in their dressing room at the New York Limelight club.
She reportedly requested a face-to-face meeting with the group after their gig at the venue.
Guitarist Mark Collins missed the occasion because he arrived late and security refused him entry to the room.
Speaking about the incident, Collins told Channelbee: "When I was allowed back in, eventually, I saw Tim (Burgess, singer) on the floor face down with a load of peanuts and the deli tray scattered around."
Madonna apparently left the dressing room, complaining: "Oh gross."
