The frontman claimed that people were "lying" about enjoying the music festival because "jobs are on the line".
"To be honest with you I thought Glastonbury was rubbish this year and I'm not just saying that," Meighan told Gigwise.
"I think people are lying again to cover it up like it was a success and it wasn't, it was really poor. It was really bad."
Speaking about positive news coverage of the event, he commented: "Jobs are on the line...So they've got to kneel over and say it's a success."
He added: "I just think everyone is trying to cover it over because it's Glastonbury, trying to make out that it was the best thing in the world but sometimes it isn't, sometimes you've got to say actually it weren't very good."
Meighan didn't attend Glastonbury this year, but admitted he would be interested in headlining in 2009.
"We've got a long way yet, got loads more gigs to play and put a record out but it would be lovely if we could," he said.
