Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl has been forced to reschedule two of the band's shows because of a throat illness.

The rock group's two-night stint at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado has been rescheduled for September.

Grohl said in a statement posted on the band's website: "As much as it kills us to postpone shows, I'm in no shape to deliver the kind of balls-out performances that you guys deserve."

Foo Fighters hope to resume their US tour on July 17 at the Ford Centre, Oklahoma.
