The band, who say their music will bridge genres, includes Jon "The Reverend" McLure, Babyshambles guitarist Drew McConnell, current Arctics drummer Matt Helders and former Arctics bassist Andy Nicholson.
They are joined by The Makers member Joe Moskow, hip-hop artist Low-Key and acclaimed record producer Jagz Kooner.
Four tracks were published on the group's MySpace page this weekend, named 'The Menace', 'Lies', 'Better Than Heavy' and 'Julian'.
Mongrel, who will play gigs in the UK in the autumn, describe themselves as: "A coalition of the willing. A force of nature based on musical artists who want to say something about the world they live in and be free of the merry-go-round of make record, release, make record, release."
