Spears to perform at VMAs again?

Britney Spears may perform at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, say reports.

The singer's rendition of 'Gimme More' opened the 2007 bash, but critics branded her lip-synched performance an "embarrassment".

However, according to Now magazine, the show's bosses want her to return and make amends at this year's ceremony.

"Britney's transformation has been dramatic," commented a source.

"After last year, when she turned up to the VMAs and put on an amateur show, we've got high hopes that she'll really impress this year."

The MTV VMAs take place in Los Angeles on September 7. They will be hosted by Russell Brand.
