The Oasis star made headlines earlier this year for criticising the choice of Jay-Z to headline Glastonbury. He was quoted as saying: "Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music ... I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."
Jay-Z later hit back at Gallagher, claiming that he should show more "respect" for other genres of music.
In a new interview with NME, Gallagher explained: "I wasn't saying I was better than Jay-Z as a person or rock was greater than hip-hop as a thing or whatever it is. I said what I said, and it was wrong, or it was taken wrong, and now all this."
"My f****** single went back in the charts, Jay-Z's profile went through the f****** roof. Everyone's a winner," he continued. "He knows that I was misrepresented, as I guess he was, so let's f****** move on."
Gallagher confirmed that he does not feel guilty about the row - as there was no malice intended when he made his comments.
He said: "For my own part I can sit here and say I never dissed that f****** guy. I never would."
