Clarke's band were performing at Chicago's Lollapalooza when he cut his finger on the end of his guitar.
He told NME: "I managed to slash the end off my finger playing guitar, there was f***ing blood everywhere.
"The doctor looked at it after the set and said I'd have to miss a couple of gigs. I said I'd miss one but I'm not missing LA."
He added: "I don't really care if my finger's p***ing blood - it's not the end of the world, it's an occupational hazard."
The Coventry band cancelled their scheduled appearance at the Osheaga Festival in Montreal yesterday because of the injury.
