The veteran rocker will publish his memoirs in 2009 after signing a deal with Ecco, an imprint of HarperCollins.
"I have so many outrageous stories, too many, and I'm gonna tell 'em all," he said.
"All the unexpurgated, brain-jangling tales of debauchery, sex and drugs, transcendence and chemical dependence you will ever want to hear.
"And this is not just my take, this is the unbridled truth, the in-your-face, up-close and prodigious tale of Steven Tyler straight from the horse's lips."
Tyler and bandmate Joe Perry were known as The Toxic Twins during the 1970s due to their excessive consumption of illegal substances.
Aerosmith's hits include 'Walk This Way', 'Dude (Looks Like A Lady)', 'Love In An Elevator' and 'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing'.
