The Pop Idol winner, who has not released an album since 2005's Keep On, told Heat that filming the promo for new single 'Changes' was "an extremely long day".
He said: "This was probably the hardest video I've ever done. I ran up and down country lanes, was struck by lightning, set on fire and nearly drowned. It's amazing what you'll do for music!"
Young added that he was also made to "drink foul-smelling soup, dance in a hay-filled barn with a wind machine, and tortured lying in cold water with my head on rocks".
