Popstar Christie Allen has died from pancreatic cancer.

She passed away yesterday morning at her home in West Australia. Allen is survived by her husband Mark, daughter Chris Lea, granddaughter Ashlee and brothers Steve and Mark.

Born in the UK in 1954, Allen moved to Australia and while playing in a band with her brothers in Perth she came to the attention of record producer Terry Britten.

Allen was subsequently signed to independent record label Mushroom, which later became home to Kylie Minogue.

Her debut album Magic Rhythm included the singles 'Falling In Love With Only You', 'Goosebumps' - her biggest hit in Australia, shifting 60,000 copies in 1979 - and 'He's My Number One'.
