Around 3,000 fans gathered at the small stage following rumours that the band The FF'ers, who were scheduled to play at 5pm, were a pseudonym for the American rockers.
When the British punk band arrived on stage they were bottled by disappointed fans and forced to call short their set.
The Underground Railroad, who followed The FF'ers, also came under fire from the audience, which threw mud, shoes and bottles.
When organisers announced that Foo Fighters wouldn't be performing, around 500 fans remained to watch the end of the gig.
