Baines claimed that Liam Gallagher confronted him backstage on Top Of The Pops after he performed a sketch about the Oasis singer on Channel 4's Popworld.
The keyboardist said Gallagher became so animated during their discussion that he dropped his biscuit in a cup of tea. The frontman apparently blamed Baines for the mishap.
Baines told Radio 1: "Liam and me are backstage and he says, 'Right, so the reason I said that stuff about you was because I saw that programme of you doing an impression of me'.
"And as he was saying this he was dunking his biscuit in his tea - and it was then he started swearing - but he left it in too long and it ruined the biscuit.
"So it was my fault and I ruined his biscuit, then he started being horrible about our band."
Noel Gallagher restarted Oasis's feud with the Leeds group earlier this month when he compared them to '60s popstars The Monkees.
