Estelle's record company has removed her album from iTunes in America in an attempt to increase physical sales.

In a statement, Warner claimed that the strategy was "uniquely tailored" for the singer's fanbase and was designed to "optimise revenues and promote long-term artist development".

Her single 'American Boy' fell from number 11 to 37 on the Billboard chart following its removal from the online service.

The album Shine dropped 121 places after peaking at 38 last week, reports The Wall Street Journal.
