Perez Hilton to host EMAs webcast

Perez Hilton is to host MTV's live webcast of the Europe Music Awards this year, it has been announced.

The celebrity blogger will interview the stars as they arrive on the red carpet before moving backstage for further interviews as the results are announced. He will also cover the final preparations in the run-up to the ceremony.

"MTV is bringing Russell Brand to America to bring a little bit of British flair to the VMAs as their host next month. And now, they're bringing ME to the UK to bring my very own Perezciousness to all of Europe," Hilton explained in a statement.

"I am honoured and thrilled to be involved with the Europe Music Awards. I've watched the show every year from the US, but this will be my first time attending and presenting, so that's especially exciting."

Richard Godfrey, the ceremony's executive producer, added: "This is an incredible coup as Perez is the pioneer of celebrity exposé blogging. As the Host of this year's live web broadcast he is sure to bring his own unique style of incisive reportage to the show to make it a web experience to remember."

The MTV Europe Music Awards will be broadcast live from Liverpool's Echo Arena on 6 November.
