The US four-piece - made up of three brothers and their cousin - score their first ever number one with 'Sex On Fire', forcing Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl' into second position.
Cliff Richard, bidding to become the only artist to top the chart in six consecutive decades, has to settle for the number three spot with 'Thank You For A Lifetime'.
Outside of the top ten, notable gains come from Miley Cyrus, who climbs from 14 to eleven with 'See You Again', and Gym Class Heroes, who rise from 16 to 12 with 'Cookie Jar'.
Meanwhile, McFly debut at 23 with latest single 'Lies'.
