Miles Kane has revealed that he will take a break from The Last Shadow Puppets, his side-project with Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner, to concentrate on his band The Rascals.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Kane said that he plans to spend 2009 recording a follow-up to The Rascals' debut album Rascalize.

He said: "Next year I'm gonna concentrate on The Rascals. We got overshadowed a bit by the Puppets thing, but I'm writing the second album now and it's gonna be a lot darker."

Kane added that his Rascals bandmates Joe Edwards and Greg Mighall had no problem with his Turner collaboration.

"They're sound. If you're into writing lots of songs you gotta get 'em out. The downside is I've had no days off at all this year," he explained.

The Last Shadow Puppets' album The Age Of The Understatement was among the nominations for this year's Mercury Music Prize.
