Writing on the group's official website, Smith told fans not to buy the digital release, stating that £7.99 is an "absurd" price for their Hypnagogic States EP.
He said the EP included single remixes by 30 Seconds To Mars, AFI, My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy, but failed to include 65daysofstatic's bonus remix of 'The Only One'.
Smith said: "It is absurd. TMU ("The Might Universal") has managed to f*** this up to another level!"
In an email to Apple reposted on the site, he wrote: "This is so totally wrong. I really do f***ing despair. Why is it so incredibly difficult to get anything done right?
"It's not a f***ing album. It's a 5-track EP and you are supposed to get an extra free track if you buy it as a 5-track EP. And it's supposed to cost less if you buy it as a 5-track EP than if you buy the 5 tracks individually."
The veteran rocker urged fans to buy Hypnagogic States only when its price drops below £4.
