Speaking on BBC Radio 1, Grohl revealed that the rock band will take a break from music.
"We've never really taken a long break, I think it's time," the frontman said.
Grohl admitted that after playing summer shows in the UK for the past few years - including two at Wembley Stadium in June - he wants to avoid overexposing the band to British music fans.
"After doing Wembley we shouldn't come back there for ten years because we've played to everybody," he said.
"We're over in the UK every year, every summer, so I think it's time to take a break and come back over when people really miss us."
