Charity single 'Is This Christmas?', to be released on December 15, is likely to face competition from the whoever takes the talent show crown.
Former X Factor winners Shayne Ward, Leona Lewis and Leon Jackson have all reached the top of the Christmas charts in the past three years.
'Is This Christmas?' producer Tore Jonansson remarked that the single is different to previous songs released by the group.
"[It shows] a darker and more mature side to the band, with lyrics encompassing the experiences of the surreal, and often lonely, life of a band on the road," he said.
Wombats drummer Dan Haggis recently commented that the band is hoping to persuade a Liverpool celebrity to appear on the video for the track.
