The singer claimed that the band will reunite if his brother and guitarist Dave is healthy and the material they produce is fresh.
He told Radio 4 show Front Row that once those factors are addressed, there is a real possibility that the group will get back together.
"There is a desire to do it, but the thing that would make me decide yes or no would be whether or not we could do new songs, even if it's four or five… but I couldn't do it just for nostalgic reasons," he said.
It was revealed earlier this year that a musical written by Davies will be staged in London.
Come Dancing is set in "a time when Saturday night dancing at the local palais was the magical, not-to-be-missed highlight of every young person’s week".
