Bragg: 'Industry must adapt to piracy'

Rex Features

Billy Bragg has commented that the music industry needs to change if it is to survive in the face of piracy.

The singer-songwriter made the statement in the closing moments of EconMusic on Tuesday.

He said: "You know who the pirates are? The pirates are our fans. When you sue our fans, you drive our fans away."

Earlier this year, Bragg stated that social networking sites which host music should pay royalties to the artists involved.
