Young found writing songs "horrendous"

The singer became so preoccupied with the quality of his musical output that he stopped enjoying the songwriting process.
"I used to write a song and have what I called my 'Grammy-winning moment'," he told DS. "I'd imagine myself going, 'Thank you so much for this award'.
"Then the next day I'd listen back and think, 'Oh s**t. That song's actually s**t'."
However, Young said he finds songwriting "easier" now because he has adopted a more laid back approach.
"Now I write them, leave them and judge whether they're good or not a couple of months later," he said.
