The NME Awards 2009 will take place at London's Brixton Academy.
It will be the second time the historic venue has hosted the ceremony, which is running for its 55th year.
The event, which celebrates the best and biggest acts in rock, will be held on Wednesday, February 25.
The following night will see the second NME Awards Big Gig take place at the O2 Arena. Last year's Big Gig featured performances from Manic Street Preachers, Klaxons, The Cribs and Kaiser Chiefs.
NME publishing director Paul Cheal commented: "With the Awards night at Brixton Academy, the Big Gig at the O2 and an extensive range of Awards Shows across the country, we're confident that the Shockwaves NME Awards 2009 will be the most exciting yet."
