Speaking at the Q Awards, the festival organiser said it was "so far, so good" for the event's new ticket scheme, which opened yesterday.
"We've sold around 70,000 tickets already, I think," Eavis told DS. "Hopefully, we're getting the big crowds back!
"We're over the moon. It's exactly what we were hoping for."
Explaining the decision to bring ticket sales forward, she said: "Last year when we sold the tickets slowly, which was accidental, we ended up with the best crowd we've ever had.
"Speaking to people who attended, they said it was better because they had more time to work out whether they could come. It was much fairer and better results."
She also revealed that this year's lineup will be "trickled out" rather than "one massive announcement".
"We may have a few names by Christmas," she said. "We'll be chatting to people tonight and we've already begun talking to some other people.
"There's a lot of juggling around to do. The famous Sunday afternoon [golden oldie] slot may now be on Saturday afternoon and Friday afternoon!"
Emily's father Michael previously confirmed that The Ting Tings will be one of the acts appearing at next year's festival.
