Gallagher claimed in an interview that the three-piece would always be "s**t", no matter what musical direction they work in.
Commenting on the remarks at this year's Q Awards, Chaplin said: "I'm not getting involved. I can't be bothered.
"It's pointless in the world of music. It's pointless. In any other form of art, nobody does that. It's just stupid."
Speaking about the group's new LP Perfect Symmetry, the singer criticised acts who continue to release records that sound exactly the same.
"We want to be brave about everything we're doing," he said. "All the people that inspire us are the people that change and evolve what they're doing.
"Putting the 'Spiralling' single out was a risky thing, but it's been really popular and it's paid off.
"We don't want to be one of those bands that forever remains the same, churning out the same old stuff."
