Chris Martin's band took home the prestigious Best Act In The World Today and Best Album gongs, but the frontman played down the praise.
"I don't think we're the best act in the room, let alone the world," he said.
He also flirted with former Catatonia singer Cerys Matthews when she handed him the gong for Best Act. Martin told the audience: "About eight years ago, we supported Catatonia and you let me hold your cigarette. I thought 'maybe there is a chance'."
Matthews jokingly replied: "There is a chance!"
Meatloaf picked up the Classic Song accolade for 'Bat Out Of Hell', while Grace Jones was given the Q Idol gong by Tom Jones.
The ceremony took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane early today.
